I don’t speak for every guy here, but I’m pretty sure men are just as uncomfortable seeing other guys naked, as women are. So to say that the female reporters would be uncomfortable is ridiculous because the males were just as uncomfortable.

I kid of course. I agree completely. It’s just as easy to move the interview as it is to hold in the locker room. I think it is just how its always been and reporters were resistant to change.

It’s kind of crazy how the notion has changed over time about women in sports. The video we are watching shows people shocked and even appalled that a women would have an interest in sports.

The only reason I asked my now wife on a date was because I happened to be sitting next to her and her friends in a sports bar across from my then loft in Midtown, Atlanta a few years back, and she was yelling and cussing at the TV above the bar while the Braves game was on. Once she said something to the effect of “That was a great 5-4-3 double play,” I knew I had something special on my hands. That is a direct correlation as to why there is now a ring on hers…..

I found the fact that Robin Herman was the only female writer at the Daily Princetonian at the time interesting, because I see journalism as a predominantly female profession today.

I’ve definitely noticed that at least in 3410, the majority of the people in there are females. However, in a sports class there are usually more males. In high school, I was the only girl in my sabermetrics class, so it was an interesting change coming to college with Grady having mostly females.

It’s definitely a change from some of my past sports classes. I’m glad the stereotype that women don’t know sports is finally starting to dwindle.

Today in class, we will be watching “Let Them Wear Towels,” an ESPN Nine for IX documentary about women journalists in locker rooms. If you would like, you can discuss the documentary with each other while we’re watching. Use the “Leave a reply” box to start a new thread. Click on the “Reply” link to comment on another thread.
