A force to be reckoned with

Jadeveon Clowney has a great deal of hype surrounding him this season, and rightfully so. With 21 sacks in 25 career games just during his freshman and sophomore seasons, South Carolina’s Clowney, is making clear why ESPN referred to him as the boogeyman.

The possibilities for Jadevon Clowney are not only endless, but also remarkable. It’s easy to forget that this explosive defensive end is only entering his junior season with the Gamecocks, and is not only a Heisman Trophy candidate, but also a potential number one pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Clowney’s proven himself over the course of the last two seasons and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see one, if not both of these accolades land in his favor.

With much left gain, where does one of South Carolina’s most disruptive Gamecock’s go from here? Seemingly, nowhere but up. Young collegiate athletes are looking to mimic and learn from Clowney, which could add to the hype that’s being built around him. If Jadevon Clowney is able to overcome his own hype and keep a steady head on his shoulders, this could make out to be one of the best boogeymen of all time.

Your post was very well-written without fluff, and it included plenty of pertinent facts about Clowney from a variety of sources. Your links were helpful in clarifying the boogeyman reference as well. I like how concise you were in your writing, but I think you should have delved a little deeper into why he deserves such praise. Other than that, you have a few comma splices and typos but nothing that is not easily fixed. Well done.

I also liked the boogeyman link and I thought that it helped add to your blog. What I would try to put more emphasis on is that Jadeveon Clowney is a possible Heisman candidate and possible future number one draft pick as a defensive end, which is the remarkable part. Every year, there are college quarterbacks that are hyped up as possible first overall draft picks and Heisman candidates. This year, at least one week in, analysts are raving about Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston. The remarkable part about Clowney is that he is getting just as much, if not more, recognition as these star quarterbacks who are put up ridiculous stats in their first game. Defensive players rarely get talked about as much as the top quarterbacks, so I think the fact that Clowney gets talked about as being likely to receive some of the top honors in football as much as he does for the position he plays is worth recognizing in your blog.

I think that your link to the Bleacher Report with the ESPN video on it was very interesting and pertinent to your point and it definitely clarified the “boogeyman” idea for me. It is interesting to see how the hype has grown around Clowney and his story will definitely be one to follow in this season with everything that is being laid out in front of him. Your links were good in developing the point that you were trying to make, but I would have also included another link or maybe just expanded upon what makes him a legitimate contender for the Heisman and as a first overall draft pick by including stats or other factors.
